There was something about the squirrel armor last issue that had me giggling hysterically.

Now, not making time for Dinosaur Comics is one thing, but you are DEPRIVING yourself if you do not check out North’s To Be Or Not To Be. It’s Hamlet! It’s Choose Your Adventure! Where you can also choose to be Ophelia! Or unlock the time paradox achievement! Or be Hamlet’s dead Dad! The world is your turn to page 49.

I’m not against Erica Henderson’s art in general, but there’s just something about the cleft-lip mouths that bother me in Squirrel Girl.

CYOA Hamlet is one of those projects that completely justifies Kickstarter forever. SO GOOD.

I was about halfway through the first issue before I noticed the text at the bottom of each page.

@Robert Eddleman: that’s a North hallmark; all his issues of Adventure Time have that as well.

And that’s another comic I’ll recommend to everybody here: I wasn’t in love with Adventure Time as a show, but I saw North’s name on the comic and tried it out, and it’s the first time I can remember laughing out loud at a comic book in a very, very, very long time.

Going back at least as far as Roger Landridge’s Muppets series in 2009, Boom! Studios has done very well in finding good people to adapt cartoon TV shows.

And Marvel’s done very well in learning to poach these creators. In addition to North and Squirrel Girl, Landridge’s Thor was very nice, if sadly also very short.

Love the comic and the joke/premise. My review of the Kraven issue was, “If Squirrel Girl’s schtick is that she explains to supervillains why their basic character motivations make no sense, she’s gonna kill the Marvel Universe more thoroughly than Deadpool ever could.”

Squirrel Girl never came off, to me, as the kind of silly you describe. She always seemed more like the kind of silly that pulls back the curtain and shows what a house of cards comics are before blowing really, really hard to bring the whole thing crashing down.

It’s like that one time in Civil War where Emma Frost points out how nobody who isn’t a mutant has ever lifted a finger on the whole sentinels issue. That’s the category Squirrel Girl fits in for me.

I love the text at the bottom of each page, but it’s very hard on my old man eyes. Very.

Does Squirrel Girl’s dialogue in the book read like Kristen Schaal’s voice to anyone else?

@Theron: Get the digital copy (it’s free with your hardcopy) and read it on a tablet. You can zoom in on page details and read the text easier.

Kimmy Schmidt should become Squirrel Girl and then crossover with Daredevil!

IMHO, this thread needs a cross-reference to the Interwebs’ only known post about giant telepathic teleporting radioactive beavers terrifying the placid English countryside.

One correction; Squirrel Girl isn’t a Slott/GLA creation. Rather, she first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #8 in a story drawn and co-plotted by Steve Ditko (co-plotted with Will Murray). She tries to become Iron Man’s sidekick and ends up defeating Dr. Doom (of course).

I should have explained what I meant way earlier, but while Dan Slott didn’t create Squirrel Girl, he was the one who started the metafictional joke that she has a lengthy career as the world’s most competent superhero and it just hasn’t been shown in any comics before now.

Pray you never talk to Saidi about this topic, you’d get the lecture of the lifetime.
