F5 F5 F5….

Did Palin just say she didn’t have to answer the debate questions? WTF.

Biden is grinning like evil shark person.

BEST LINE EVAR.

;)

bunnyofdoom said on October 2nd, 2008 at 9:26 pm

Is it just me, or do the lines just seem completely arbitrary?

mygif
Cody B said on October 2nd, 2008 at 9:27 pm

I don’t think the lines are really paying much attention…

“Tax cuts for Exxon Mobile are bad!”

Lines stay neutral.

WTF?

mygif
kodi said on October 2nd, 2008 at 9:33 pm

The lines can’t be completely arbitrary, because the women ALWAYS like Biden better than the men.

mygif

It’s his sexy sexy hair.

mygif

So, basically the lines hate gay marriage.

mygif
Amy said on October 2nd, 2008 at 9:41 pm

I’m watching the debate on PBS. No lines. I think the debate is driving me at least slightly less insane without that “feature” included.

mygif
spidey said on October 2nd, 2008 at 9:41 pm

Sigh… alas Ohio did amend their constitution to prohibit Gay marriage. One of the many reasons I’m currently looking a new state to move to.

(Neither is verbatim, and there’s barely context for the Al Qaeda line.)

Tell me that line is made up, because that’s just spun gold, right there.

Let’s hope the didn’t-swallow-own-tongue success of tonight leads Gov. Palin to hold an actual press conference at some point, because I’m kinda getting into her undermedicated approach to politics. The Couric tapes alone are like Arrested Development with somehow even more schaudenfreude.

mygif
MarvinAndroid said on October 2nd, 2008 at 11:16 pm

I’m a bit surprised you never mentioned the fact that both candidates COMPLETELY avoided the question about “What is your Achilles heel?” Palin even more so than Biden, but at that point you could hardly tell, since Palin wasn’t answering any of the questions (and Biden skipped a couple). That was truly painful. They didn’t even MENTION their weaknesses (okay, to be fair to Biden, he did mention it briefly at the beginning of whatever he ended up talking about).

I was also a bit disappointed in Ifill’s failure to call Palin on not answering the questions. She did a bit at the beginning, but I guess she just gave up.

mygif

The only thing that surprised me about the debate was Biden’s control over his mouth. I totally expected Palin to do okay. The one thing we know is that she is is capable of memorizing talking points and speechifying bullshit. It’s not going to do much at all, in terms of changing the minds of swing voters and it really shouldn’t do much for most thinking Americans either …

Can’t wait for your take of the Canadian English debate. I was quite entertained for the first 45 minutes and then I got bored.

Personally, the only thing keeping me going is the knowledge that if McCain wins, I have the points to move to Canada. And the weather in Alberta can’t be crappier than Chicago.

Thankfully, I live in Chicago, where the Sox/Tupac ticket is clearly more popular than McCain/Palin.

Bill O’ Reilly: So Karl, what did you think?

Rove: Well it was obviously a moderator that was in the tank for Obama, from the liberal media. Did you see them asking anything about re-starting the KKK? Or asking anything about burning fags, and framing Biden as a pussy gaytard who wouldn’t do it? Did you see any question about the minimum number of dirty arabs each candidate would kill in office? Of course not. It was to be expected from a east coast gal like that, wink wink. But Palin did very well. Not perfect. But she fought a good fight.

Bill O’ Reilly: Yes that moderator was akin to the KKK. I’m in total agreement. We’ll be right back.

mygif
Rick said on October 3rd, 2008 at 12:27 am

O’Reilly: Hi, I’m Bill O’Reilly and we’re back. We’re here with Bill Kristol. Bill, what did you think?

Kristol: Well, again. I don’t understand how there wasn’t any questions about scripture in a debate like that. What is this? The secular jewfrancisco?

O’Reilly: I know.

Kristol: What kind of values does these people have? It’s such a extreme liberal bias.

O’Reilly: It’s the influence of the far left MSNBC and the NY Times, Bill! They’re all becoming like nazis. Like commies, the KKK. Satan and ass-legos milkshake. Fucking thing sucks! (*shakes his head*) … It’s unbelievable. We’ll be right back.

There is only one thing the US press loves more than a missing white woman and that is a dipshit politician.

Biden did exactly what he was supposed to. Show specifics when she was making outlandish generalized claims, not give anything up and let Palin be the loudmouthed bimbo she truly is. The media will take care of the rest. The dinner bell has rung, its feeding time and Biden has effectively put Palin’s blood in the water.

Its only a matter of time.

mygif
Matthew said on October 3rd, 2008 at 2:15 am

Actually, I’m pretty sure Cleveland is the ass of Ohio. I mean, how often do you have a town whose river was once on *fire* ? (Granted, been a while and they have a celebration every year, so you know that it’s still not on fire. But still…)

And, boys and girls, we’d do well to remember what Eddie Izzard once said in San Fran with regards (and respects) to JFK: “It’s 70 percent how you look, 20 percent how you say it, and 10 percent what you say.” One of only two reasons that people are voting for Palin at this point…

mygif
Caroline said on October 3rd, 2008 at 2:24 am

As a resident of Ohio, I have to agree with Matthew: Cleveland is the ass of Ohio. Or maybe Toledo. One of those decaying industrial cities of the North.

Thanks for bloging this. I was in class until 10:00 PM in order to get a degree that will allow me to move somewhere that is not Ohio.

mygif
Stark said on October 3rd, 2008 at 4:33 am

Once again Ohio will vote strongly for the Democrats but due to the fact that all of Ohio are like retarded step-children they will count the votes as Republican.

GO BLUE!!!

(If you can’t tell I’m from Michigan, a state that claims to be a blue collar as long as that collar is actually more of a green color. I mean east of Lansing is as Democratic as can be, but step one foot west and suddenly you have a bunch of ultra-conservative Dutch Republican wanting to ban books, burn pro-choicers and put all the minorities in special camps. But at least we have Vernors.)

Blarg said on October 3rd, 2008 at 11:30 am

Is it me, or did the moderator really seem to have an actual bias for Biden? I’m still drinking my coffee here, so my sarcasm detector isn’t 100% sure about the various above “in the tank for Obama” descriptions of Ifell (who I know nothing about aside from her PBS affiliation), but as I watched, it seemed like Biden got the last statement in a significant majority of questions, and at least once got to lead twice in a row. Granted, I was thankful that I didn’t have to hear Palin “respond” so much, but it didn’t really seem, ahem, fair or balanced. Also, I didn’t get to complete my Palin Bingo card, which made me sad.

I have to agree with an above poster. Human bullshit shotgun made me laugh out loud when I read it.

Can we ban the use of “fundamental” until this election is over? Please?

@Zenrage: NOM NOM THE BLOOD, IT NOURISHES NOMMA NOM NOM

Did you guys see when she said “Barack Obama and Senator Obiden”? Yeah, it was funny. Between that and that the “Talibanis [SIC SIC SIC OH MY GOD THEY’RE NOT A COUNTRY SIIIIIIIC] are helping us”, it was almost like I wasn’t dead tired. Also, the lines always dipped a little whenever Palin said “maverick”, and it made me smile. @10:10 WORD. What was with the “your wife’s reward in heaven” bit? The HELL? @9:44 And don’t worry about cognitive dissonance, she is like whatever the antimatter of logic is, the universe kind of erodes around her. One day, we will make warp cores powered solely by old election footage like this. Consider it a free gas card that will activate 300 years from now. 9:22-24, 9:47, 9:52, 9:55, 9:59, 10:18: You are going to make me quote you like the bible AND get fired from my nonpartisan temp job at the Elections Office, MGK. And more importantly, now I have “My Fair Lady” stuck in my head!! “McCain-and-Spain” indeed…

Here is a wonderful skit I made while watching the debate!:

McCain: You will be called Darth… Palin.
Palin: *big smile* *kills Jedi-lites, plane-assisted with hockey pucks*
////
Polar Bear: YOU WERE MY BROTHER!
Palin: I HATE YOU!!

…You’re welcome. I was going to add something about the hopping from the “Russia” lava rock to the “America” lava rock and then being thrice-amputated by an angry passport-carrying moose, but I thought it would be a bit much. I also have Palin-as-a-brain-damaged-cat (my cat has eaten a chess rook) and Palin-as-John-Travolta-in-Hairspray impressions. I am available for parties and bar mitzvahs.

mygif
Sofa King said on October 4th, 2008 at 2:27 pm

How can you have a team of mavericks? And we don’t need a VP from Fargo, dammit.

Apparently, for those who don’t know, Gwen Ifill is writing a book called “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”. The Pubbies protested it three days before the debates. She announced the book two months ago. More bad Repub research.

And how the hell is she “middle class?”

mygif
Genevieve said on October 4th, 2008 at 5:31 pm

@ Sofa King: Republicans are also mad because apparently the book’s release date is Inauguration Day, as if it were some kind of prophetic text telling voters who has already won. Instead of, you know… savvy marketing and good business skills and really good timing. Also glossed over is the fact that the book is about race politics in America culminating with how far Obama has come in this presidential election, and how race & politics have changed in America enough for this to happen. The Pubsters are definitely trying to make it seem like the book is hailing Obama as an accomplishment for race relations in America because of winning an election, when really, that he’s gotten so far is an accomplishment whether or not he becomes the Prez.

You found plenty to ridicule in the content of the debate, I don’t see any reason to stoop to that level (especially when you stress how stupid people are for being impressed at all by her hockey-mom/chick-from-a-small-town [or whatever it was] act).
