‘WELCOME TO DIMENTIA FIIIIVEEEE!!!’
That brings back memories…especially with those ‘cross-over’ episodes where old footage got recycled for ‘Spider Man’ episodes and I believe vice-versa. ‘The hills! They walk again!’ is another episode I remember that way. Those damn beetles and their paralyzing eye-beams.
And not just recycled footage…the first time I realized Friar Tuck was *also* J. Jonah Jameson my head damn near exploded.
I’m not one to buy for nostalgia either, but when I caught a few episodes on Teletoon, I found myself enjoying them more than I remembered. Considering they were shorts strung together in a fashion similar to ‘Rocky and Bullwinkle’ when first broadcast, expecting Shakespeare would have been a bit much. 😉
I preordered this back in October, but Amazon.ca keeps saying they’re not coming out. I need this sooo bad.
Huh, I just YouTube’d that the other day for totally unrelated reasons.
When I was a kid, I wasn’t allowed to watch TV…. so of course I would get up at 5am, sneak down to the TV room and watch cartoons until my parents woke up around 6:30-7am. The only cartoons they show at 5am-6:30am are the really lame ones – so I got my fill of Rocket Robin Hood and Hercules. And not much else. Certainly none of the *good* stuff everyone else remembers from the early eighties…
Nice. I’ve been writing in my own blog a series of Robin Hood reviews, focusing on how the characters are portrayed in different shows and movies. This will indeed be a worthy addition.
YES.
So BAD. But… so good! MGK, that’s the best news I’ve heard in months. Thanks.
I was trying to explain to someone when the miniseries “Band of Brothers” was being aired that I kept cracking up whenever it was mentioned because it only made me think of the theme song from “Rocket Robin Hood”. They’d never heard of it & didn’t get it.
You’re quite sure you didn’t mean to say, “Oh my eyes”? Because I know that’s what I was saying. 🙂
Here’s a thought though… do you think they can fit it all on one DVD by having it jump from one disc location to another for all the re-used footage? I bet they could…
OH GOD NO
What, they do this before the complete Hercules??
Wow! I’m just amazed that I’m not the only one who remembers this show! I distinctly recall the first time I saw an episode of RRH that had EXACTLY the same plot as an episode of Spider-Man (the one with the dream-manipulating alien monster thing).
