Look, I realize that since you are a liberal you can’t possibly be that smart so I’ll talk slowly so you can understand: it’s cute to compare McCain’s connection to Hagee with Wright but let me know when Hagee becomes an intimate part of McCain’s life, marrying him to his spouse or baptizing his children. It’s one thing to have political dealings with a man of ill repute, it’s another to have him be a huge part of your life like Wright is to Obama.

And yes, I actually did have one of everyone on my block in Flatbush, Brooklyn growing up. That’s why I don’t play in your racialist games and why I’m not afraid of the typical liberal retort of “racist!” to anything they disagree with.

Here’s my piece on Obama’s other pastor problem, enjoy: http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/obamas-other-problematic-pastor/

P.S. I just read your About Me page and you’re, what, Canadian? Hahahaha.

It’s one thing to have political dealings with a man of ill repute, it’s another to have him be a huge part of your life like Wright is to Obama.

Except you miss the point that, beyond a couple of cherrypicked statements (at least one of which is pretty blatantly taken out of context), Wright is the furthest thing from “a man of ill repute.” Again, the reason I’m mocking you is because you’re proudly proclaiming your refusal to do more research, when in about thirty seconds it’s pretty easy to find this testimonial by a white member of Trinity Church who recounts how Jeremiah Wright, that notable anti-white racist, counselled his black fiancee to ignore any doubts she had about marrying a white man.

And yes, I actually did have one of everyone on my block in Flatbush, Brooklyn growing up.

Which of course completely misses the point – your life experience as a white person is pretty fucking meaningless as regards the claim of “knowing about race in America.” You have an extremely limited perception of what it is to be black, just as I do – or Asian, or native. (Or, for that matter, gay, or of the opposite gender.) You taking preemptive offense at a simple plea for shared understanding is ludicrous.

P.S. I just read your About Me page and you’re, what, Canadian? Hahahaha.

So sue me that I take an interest in the politics of our largest trading partner – you know, the one that can’t be bothered, generally speaking, to stick to its NAFTA treaty obligations.

Point the first: “liberals cannot possibly be intelligent” and “I won’t even deign to listen to what this person has to say because I disagree with him” are 95% of what’s wrong with this country.

Point the second: I find it amusing that you only respond to the Hagee assertion, thereby pretending that everyone agrees with you on the premises of empty rhetoric and Wright’s racism. You even ignore the criticism that you are judging the entire message of a 40-minute speech from brief snippets of it. Sneaky tactic from the PR lady.

Oooo! Blogger showdown!
Pride is on the line! Which one will give up first and claim to have “better things to do”? Which one will post the most links in support of their argument?

Her response to you seemed weak until she brought out the Canadian thing.

Maybe she has a point…..

I mean, doesn’t that completely invalidate everything you’d said? 🙂

That block she lived on had to be goddamn huge!!

Since, you know, there are more complicated race, ethnicity, gender, and religious interactions and distinctions than just “White”, “Black”, “Asian”, “Hispanic”, etc. I’d bet cash money she didn’t know Hmong Laotians, or Aborigines, and that she couldn’t tell me about the Anasazi without looking them up online. I bet that she doesn’t understand that what she is talking about– the formulation of her concept of the experience of race and “Otherness” in America being built on a handful of people representing their respective groups, or “one of everybody”– is tokenism, and really fucking offensive. I’m not part of a hive mind of any group, but I guess she is.

You don’t have to be racist to be completely racially ignorant, or even to miss the point of an argument entirely. OR TO EVADE THAT POINT. It just helps, I guess.

P.S. Isn’t the Canadian dollar currently stronger than the US dollar? Hahahaha.

Also, isn’t making fun of someone’s nationality a little bit…. racist?

Canadians aren’t exactly a race, so I’ll say no on that, but it is exceedingly lame and completely irrelevant to the point.

Well there is also that annoying little fact that McCain called Hagee his “spiritual guide”. Also that Hagee said there’s a black conspiracy, and that America was founded so it could commit genocide on muslims (so, you know, McCain’s campaign is under Godwin by default).

Oh but yes yes sure, “it doesn’t mean anything, ‘goddamn America’ is a racist commentary blahblah-no-thats-not-a-racist-thing-to-say-at-all-blahblah”.

Oh but let’s change the subject. Bringing that up is not patriotic, I’m sure McCain is a swell guy and all, since he’s a (sniff) …. hero… (salutes flag). He … fought for our… freedom (Call of Duty trumpets playing in the background), snif… and that black muslim bastard won’t even pledge the flag and wear it on his suit snif…

MCCAIN’LL NEVER GIVE IN! HE’S AN AMERICAN AMERICAN! He gives our country a new sense of purpose that only 1940s Germany has known, so fuck you! If he was black, he’d have won already!!! Like all the others black presidents!!!!

Well if McCain wasn’t a fake-christian and hadn’t pussied out on ‘Nam to be tortured “as a more heroic version of Jack Bauer” in his S&M roleplayings (since he wouldn’t fight properly for America since he hates it so he surrendered and didn’t kill all them gooks)….

… Romney would have won already!!!

I don’t think Karol’s coming back (which is a real shame, because I do so enjoy watching someone’s argument crumble in front of them), but if she does, I just want her to know that using the word “racialist” doesn’t make her sound smart, and that chastising liberals for calling someone a racist undercuts the fact that a lot of people actually ARE racist.

(Also, I just read HER ‘About Me’, and she co-writes a poker blog. Seriously. Like, poker the card game. She blogs about it. With other people. They have a blog. About a card game.)

>>>>> it’s not pokemon.

I’m sure to some people they wish it could be (at least not just symbolically like Carol and her pokerace cards). As it once was. And we must conserve the good values of those days. Conservatives conserve (did I just blew your mind?).

I agree with Pat Buchanan. Ungrateful negros, we gave them discipline and christian values (ok, Christ didn’t like them, but fuck him) and they don’t smile at me, hug me and pat my back every two minutes…

Is this the part where MGK and Karol engage in mud-wrestling to prove which political philosophy is superior? Or have I been watching Stripes too much? 🙂

I don’t think it is… seems a little too convenient. Though MGK is rising up in the world if some right-wing hack with time to waste in the Hotel Chelsea is able to retort within two hours of the post.

Still, I’m holding out for mud-wrestling. 😉

Doesn’t seem like there’d be enough news about poker to blog about it.

I mean, it’s not like Hoyle’s releasing an expansion pack or anything.

Oh yeah, racism’s bad. But I’m really curious about this poker blog thing.

MGK, I think you were hit by some of Karol’s legendary charm in that first message. You can see why all the liberal men she dates never stay liberal for long. She’s so persuasive!

If she took, say, three minutes to randomly skip through the youtube video of Obama’s speech, she’d see that the last thing he was doing was calling everyone racist. The main point of his speech was that all the races have certain beefs with each other and many of them are entirely legitimate. It’s time we started listening respectfully to what pisses each other off rather than merely dismissing each other’s words.

But that would be too much effort, I suppose. And it would be totally devastating to her personal delusions, and we can’t have that, can we? You just can’t keep on the straight and narrow conservative path if you actually start listening to people and learning things. Doesn’t work out. Best to just keep your blinders on and your fingers in your ears.

She’s in PR…truth is not really a necessity, just sound bites needed to project whatever message they want crammed down the target audience’s throat.

She’s in the perfect business, now she just needs to take over Rove’s place.

Ah, you were giving Karol there too much credit! She gave up right after posting. I guess she just likes to get one flame in and then flee, never to return, without looking at the response(s).

There is a phrase popular with many hawkish conservatives to describe that sort of thing.

Also, isn’t making fun of someone’s nationality a little bit…. racist?

Technically no, but it’s a good example of an unwarranted superiority complex. “We’ve fought in more wars than you, and we have a bigger army, and we have a bigger population, so that means we are better in every possible way than you are.”

I’ve brought this up so many times in various places that it’s starting to get old even for me, but here it is again anyway. I’m a dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., and it was precisely for those reasons and others that I used to be more proud of my U.S. citizenship. I was impressed by the military strength, all the good tv shows came from the U.S. it seemed, the history was more interesting, shit like that.

These days I’m more proud of my Canadian citizenship because I’m no longer superficial like that.

I’m not impressed by the U.S. military any longer because I’ve seen how it can be abused, I’ve seen how it can be used as a force for international bullying and intimidation instead of a force for positive change.

U.S. history? Well, for everything good the U.S. has accomplished, it’s always a question of what you’ve done lately. It’s ridiculous whenever an American conservative hawk says “Hey, we saved the French in World War Two, so who are they to criticize us?” That was back in the 1940s. Just because you did a good deed for them 60-some years ago does not mean that you will be right about everything and they will be wrong to disagree with you, forever, until the crumbling of civilization and the extinction of the human race. In the present day you are either right or you are wrong, and if you are wrong then other nations and other people have the right to tell you so. Even nations that once got conquered by Nazi Germany can be right sometimes, shockingly.

The tv shows? Still good, mostly. But not by themselves an accurate way to measure the worth of a country. I don’t believe there is any one way of measuring that.

In the end, it’s not about lines on maps. It’s about the people who live within those lines and how they conduct themselves.
