I had a “Movies You Should See But Have Not Seen (Because They Are Good)” in the queue for next week, and now I have to write something else, because Pajiba went ahead and did an excellent column about the merits of Sneakers.

Oh, man. I love the hell out of that movie. Sorry they stole your thunder. Next time, write faster!
Wait, there are people who haven’t seen Sneakers? I don’t believe you. That’s right, I’m calling you out. You’re a dirty liar, and a Communist to boot.
you could do an article about the simliarly underappreciated ‘spy game’, also with robert redford, which is similarly smart and clever in a way that failed to catch on with mainstream audiences. (in fact, sneakers and spy game make a good double feature…)
Wayne’s World is “awful’?
FUCK THAT
Write it anyway.
Sneakers rocked hard.
And I agree with supergp – write the article anyway.
Ooooh, yeah, do it anyway. Love that movie, and that was a good review — but I still want to see your take on it, CB. ^_^
I caught the last 5-10 minutes of that movie on TV once.. and I had absolutely no idea what was going on.
I haven’t seen Sneakers. I . . . might be intrigued enough to consider giving serious thought to maybe looking it up on the imdb if you write something about it, MGK.
I actually just assumed everyone had seen ‘Sneakers’. It’s one of the absolute all-time classic movies, one that should be on those AFI lists. Sharply written, brilliantly acted, wonderfully directed…really, there’s just nothing about this movie I’d ever consider changing. Even the fact that it steals the ending from a Hitchcock movie just makes it better; that ending is so good, it deserves to be used twice.
I love the end of “Sneakers”. James Earl Jones total exasperation with the crew’s requests…
“I want peace on earth and good will towards men.”
“We are the United States Government, we don’t DO that sort of thing!!!”
A friend of mine is obsessed with Sneakers.
For once I have benefited from his weird obsessions… damn good movie.
