That whole segment was referenced in the last ever episode when Huffman rattled off the co-axial cable information to Jeremy that Calvin Trager had given her.
Also, to MGK, if you’re reading this – if you don’t post, next week or whenever, the “There’s The Door” William H. Macy bit, I will hunt you down and kill you, kill you until you are quite dead.
Also Isaac and the cheese graters, which I quite like.
I am forced to conclude that my mention of Sports Night in a comment I posted in response to the West Wing clip the other day planted the seed in MGK’s head, thereby resulting in today’s posting of the above.
I had forgotten all about this show. Which is a profound shame.
When it was on, I remember thinking the most remarkable thing about the show was this incredible sense of energy and neurosis that lanced through all the episode plotlines that seemed to peak in the last five minutes and then all of a sudden, Sports Night comes on and they fade to black.

I do love some proto-West Wing. 🙂
worst. laugh track. ever.
…Is that Mal?
Proto-WEST WING my foot. This is genius all by itself.
Sports Night was wonderful, brilliant, perfect…and better than West Wing, if you ask me.
But yeah, that laugh track they tried to force in there during season 1 sucked the hose. You just can’t do Sorkin with a laugh track…
…
Please don’t make this last only a month. Make it last a year. I felt this way regarding West Wing too but…we need more Newsradio in our lives.
I love Sports Night sdo much, I can’t be bothered to check out any of his other shows — I just want more Sports Night.
Nobody ever accused me of being rational.

I’d forgotten just how good this show actually was. Thanks for the reminder.
Whoa, really? This is Sports Night? I never realized it had a laugh track! Neat stuff.
The first season did. They turned it off afterwards.
