In Canada tonight Bravo is showing “The Tempest” with Christopher Plummer in the lead role. In the USA tonight in the same time slot Bravo is showing “The Real Housewives of Orange County”.

In Canada tonight the History Channel is showing “Gates of Hell” which, while sensationalist, is still more History than what the History Channel in the USA is showing – “American Pickers: NASCAR Challenge”.

Is there any cable company I can subscribe to in the US that will give me the goddamn Canadian version of these channels? I really am willing to spend money to get the Canadian versions of these channels (especially if Bravo shows productions from Stratford often – I haven’t been able to go in years and probably won’t get to go again for a few more, and I miss Stratford…)

I think Survivor: Redemption Island is a lost cause. Aside from Rob, Matt, Russell and Phillip, could you identify any of the other remaining players? Last season, I suspected that the cast was bone stupid so that the audience would miss Russell that much more. This season’s players are of the same vein. Rob being in this game is like watching a .290 major league hitter getting sent to AA to play every day. There should be at least two sets of eyes on Mariano at all times, but he gets away with an idol, and nobody even thinks of snagging clues. Redemption Island itself is a good concept, but now it’s being kept . . . just in time for Matt to go back after being voted off. AGAIN. If he comes back to the game (AGAIN) and finishes third, that’s $50,000. For somebody who got voted off. TWICE.

In Canada, are episodes of The Simpsons edited down for syndicated. Lisa’s second line about learning ancient Hebrew always gets skipped over to Bart’s Hal Mary (pun slightly intended) to the rabbi.

Jason — yes, I think they often are. Depending on who’s showing the rerun though, sometimes episodes air fully and sometimes lines get cut out. And not always the same ones either. Maybe it’s a ploy to get us to watch the same reruns multiple times… “maybe this version will include a few lines that were cut out the last time I saw this!”
