Ah, Amazing Race. Usually it consists of Americans screaming at each other while running through airports, foreign markets, and other locales, thusly confirming the Ugly American stereotype.
Too bad Bell can’t splurge to send these Canadians around the world.
Either way, these competition shows need to be avoided like the plague they are….
I am less interested in spelling bees that are not also musicals.
Still, that one sounds alright.
You neglected to mention the most important metric for comparing Penn Jillette and Joe Rogan: appearances on Newsradio.
This comparison makes it clear that Joe Rogan is better than Penn Jillette, because he was on Newsradio, and Penn Jillette wasn’t.

Sending people around Canada isn’t The Amazing Race. Sounds more like Road Rules: Northern Trail. Might not be the best comparison . . . that was a great season, with little of what makes Bunim-Murray Productions programs so awesome nowadays. [/sarcasm]
Why harsh upon the ESPYs? It’s basically filler on perhaps the deadest day in sports (the day after the All-Star Game). Awards get handed out, we remember Jim Valvano, and we get a skit where the lady from The Blind Side abducts Peyton Manning. Good times.
Why harsh upon the ESPYs? Because professional atheletes don’t really *need* more help coming off as greedy vainglorious self-aggrandizing back-patters. (And I say this as a big football and hockey fan who is also currently more into baseball than he’s been for years.)
I’m not a big fan of award ceremonies in general, since they almost always seem to be an industry congratulating itself for how awesome they are. But at least Hollywood (for example) doesn’t already have a series of championships and trophies.
