I think the fact that the characters in Gone With The Wind are kinda hateful gives it a certain staying power, honestly. Though I’m sure it was intended purely as Southern apologia, I can’t help but notice how this film which ties everything to the fall of the Old South has at its core a relationship that is essentially toxic and doomed. It’s not a triumphal narrative like Birth of a Nation which really needs you to root for these racist assholes.

Eurotrip is a far better movie than it had any right to be, with Scotty Doesn’t Know a stand-out part. And oh wow, the friend grew up to be a deputy on Justified.

I unapologetically love The Mexican. It’s just fun to watch Brad Pitt flounder. But I think you’re right, without Gandolfini, the half of the movie following Roberts would’ve been intolerable.

Ah, Gone With The Wind. Takes Rhett years of his time and four hours of our time to realize Scarlett’s a pain in the ass.

So what if Hugh Jackman’s been Wolverine for 14 years. William Shatner’s been Kirk for over 50 years. Nyah.
