Like the flashback art style!
Well, that’s an interesting revelation.
I agree with FeepingCreature. The pencil-shaded flashbacks are a good effect. Were they actually pencil-shaded, or is it just made to look that way?

Those panels are all pencil. That’s sort of what a page normally looks like before I start putting ink all over it, except not as clean and without the black areas filled in.

Davinder: Great work on the art! You never disappoint, and I think that this is some of your best work yet.
MGK: I’d been hoping the hinted-at gay character was Alric, so thank you! Who is the dashing gentleman in the flashback?
Alric’s young man is Keif, who was a Jorrin Marine at the same time Alric was and who was killed at the Skirmish at Slatten (NB 821).
(I am assuming that that doesn’t count as a spoiler, given a set of flashbacks where the first two were Alric’s dying mother and Halfdar, who died back in book one, should have established a trend.)
(also I don’t think the writer of a thing CAN do a spoiler, technically)
