For the record I love that they cast Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. That sub-baritone of his was made for mystic incantations. He shouldn’t be in an Avengers movie. If Marvel wants to put him in a team flick they should try a modestly budgeted Defenders movie.

No mention of Black Panther & Spidey in the CA:CW description?

I’m reasonably sure in The Winter Soldier, Team Cap just killed Arnim Zola. Killing Emile Zola would make for a very different movie, I think.

@BenJ

The Defenders are all off in the MNU, getting their own series there next year actually, and the odds of any of them getting an upgrade or a movie headliner getting a downgrade into it are slim.

Frankly, I’m not even sure if the MCU and MNU are part of the same continuity. I fully expect the new Spider-Man movie to have an alive white guy named Ben Urich in it.

“Now, it’s debatable how much any of this will have to do with Doctor Strange”

Hey, you know that one of the super-science artifacts will show up in Dr. Strange somehow. (The artifact in question will probably be the Eye of Agamotto, just because that would make everybody go crazy.)

I’ll be honest, “Super science artifact” doesn’t really sound like a layman’s term for people who have skipped out on all the Marvel movies by now.

@Simon: The Avengers getting wrapped up somehow in the Dreyfus Affair … might actually be a good story. J’Accuse!

@Murc: the MNU shows make occasional reference to “the Incident,” (what New Yorkers are calling “there’s a hole in the sky and alien jerks falling out” day) and rebuilding and recovery from same. So it’s in the MCU’s continuity, just one tiny corner of it.

You forgot Howard the Duck.

Can’t we just drop the pretense and call them the Infinity Gems? I mean, it’s not that bad of a name, and it’s quicker than “super-science artifact” by a couple syllables.

I know that, as Murc says, a direct crossover between Marvel Netflix U and Cinematic U is unlikely, but as far as a Defenders movie goes, I would really like to see a Hulk/Dr Strange team-up.

Excellent summation! I’d also recommend reading all the Abridged Scripts over at The Editing Room to get a bit more detail, and goofy scenes like when the entire Thor gang bursts into a version of “Get Lucky”. (The whole Dark World script is really choice)

Also, are we not calling them the Infinity Gems? I thought the MCU was calling them that.

They’ve at least called them Infinity Stones.
