My weekly TV column is now up at Torontoist.
(And yes, I know now that The Bachelorette finishes next week, not this week. My defense is that I do not care.)

Point of order, Waking Ned Divine is actually about Irish people… yadda yadda yadda. Which is a pretty big distinction for those cultures, most of the time.
Torchwood: Children of Earth was suprisingly good. Usually you have to deal with some really boring one off episode or something drenched with sexual overtones, but since it’s only a single story and five episodes long you get to the good stuff and there’s little room for anything twee.
I just want to say that “Freema “Sexiest Woman Alive” Agyeman” is very, very true. What’s going to be really weird is if any of the previous Doctors end up on the show. Cause you know they aren’t going to let that go without a joke of some kind.
I don’t like Superman. Not one bit. Come and find me if you can Bird!
I’m not seeing the sexiness with Freema. I do feel bad for Martha Jones on account that she’s the middle child of the Eccleston/Tennant era, trapped between Rose and Donna.
As for Torchwood? It tries to be realistic near the end, as realistic as a sci-fi series can be, but the miniseries as a whole? Depressing. Really depressing. Sucking-a-shotgun depressing. There coukld be a small suicide pact next Sunday at the Torchwood panel at CCI, and I wouldn’t be too surprised.
“a twee charming movie about plucky British people being British and plucky”
I so want to see a movie where the plant closes in a Midlands town, and most of the people go around tap-dancing and stripping and generally having crazy plans to make things better and there’s shots of things stranded in the canal and “council flats” and “space heaters” and all that crazy British stuff. And there’s one stodgy guy in denial doing vocational training for when the plant reopens.
…And then the plant reopens and the stodgy guy gets a great job making lots of money, and he’s all, like, “suckers,” to all the other plucky British people.
people who dont like superman are dead inside. you dont need to cut them.
Freema Agyeman does not make anything better. Unless she’s leaving it.
Freema Agyeman is the hottest woman in the history of everything.
Please note: this is not an opinion. This is fact. I can prove it. I have graphs.
Well, I don’t like to see her leave, but I do like to see the back of her.
Er, doesn’t want to give part of it away, but ::Is sobbing.::

Maybe if she looked attractive in one episode of Doctor Who I’d agree. I watched Girl in the Fireplace at the weekend and loved Billie Piper’s look in that.
All the companions are hot in their own way, but Freema is just classically beautiful. It’s like she’s a Greek statue or something.
