There’s a tendency in some (most?) writers to Vulcanize Brainiac 5 (by which I mean “turn him into a Vulcan from Star Trek” and not “strengthen by adding sulfur under heat and pressure” — though I guess that’d be an interesting fill-in issue) or just turn him into a relentlessly colossal dick, and that’s a disservice. He may be hyper-intelligent and thus removed a degree from his teammates, but rarely is it addressed with sincerity that they are friends and not just mutually assigned individuals. Not everyone gets that.

Of course, you do — the 31st century clicks for you like it does for few other people, and more than it does for anyone who’s not pulling down a DC paycheck, that’s for sure. You and the Legion are just a perfect combination. And ditto for you and Davinder, too. But I’m not saying anything here that isn’t obvious….

I’m with the others who suggest this should be tagged “Why I Should Write the Legion.”

This was awesome and is, I think, the best example of your ability to write in a character’s voice yet.

Also, I love that the outfits are pure post-Zero Hour reboot and the background image of Jo and Tinya heading for each after the fight is won.

Abso-fraggin’-lutely marvelous. MGK, you really do get these characters like few others. Well, few others who have the ability to express it as well as you. The pause before “…and because these are my friends” was a masterstroke. Very, very well done. The world needs more of this.

what I particularly like about this: that the entire comic is brainy justifying his friendships with logic, but then at the end admitting that, really, it’s because they’re his friends.

I think it’s interesting that most of the members costumes were based on the pre-Zero Hour Legionnaires (the book which got me interested in the Legion in the first place).

At first it looks like a talky character-focused exposition scene–which it is–but it’s actually a widescreen, action-packed, fuckyeahforcefields, Legion battle as given precisely the necessary amount of attention by Querl Dox.

The amount of Legion comics I’ve read I could count on one hand, but I think id read a whole lot more if they were mostly about a Brainiac that was written in a similar way to the way you have
