Wow, really? Sherlock is only airing in North America just now? Wow. I…. legally obtained…. and then watched the entire season like a month ago. You’re in for a treat.

I’m not sure that the show not being named Adler is a fair defense for anything where a woman is potentially portrayed in a more sexist manner than a story written in 1891. But oh well.

I find the Moffit Sherlock series to be highly hit-and-miss, and the Scandal in Belgravia episode was a serious miss, mainly because it felt like a tremendously massive wasted opportunity to do something with an interesting, intriguing character in Irene Adler, and instead we got…well, what we got, which wasn’t.

Actually, Hawaii 5-0 is set up for what in my mind would be an AWESOME crossover.
1) The Navy is a huge factor in the new series
2) NCIS-LA is in-universe, making practically any Bellisario show in-universe.
3) MAGNUM P.I.

Sherlock was only four months ago here: that’s not that long.

(And it doesn’t seem like insisting that some rich people have less agency in a 2012 adaptation of a story written in 1891 is necessarily regressive. I really liked A Scandal in Belgravia. Although it wasn’t the best resolution of an amazing cliffhanger…)

Looking at the Tommy Westphall key, it looks like JAG, NCIS:LA’s grandaddy, is connected through its use of Oceanic as a fictional airline. And it was established on NCIS that Magnum is just a TV show in that world, mostly because Tom Selleck didn’t want to play the character again.

But they established that “X-Files” was just a TV show in the “Millenium” world, and then later on said “ah, fuck it, it’s the same world”. So maybe with a little more time, Selleck will relent and agree to reprise Magnum just ooonnce mooore…

Or there will be a big-screen reboot and he will get paid $5 million for a three-second cameo as “Thomas Magnum, Sr.” or some such.

Plus, they established that “Mad About You” was a TV show on “Seinfeld” some time after Paul Buchman gave Kramer his apartment in a crossover.

The Westphall universe is a wibbly thing. A wibbly, awesome thing.
