No! Not User Friendly! Now where will I go for shitty jokes about Linux?

Shame all the comics have been purged. Would’ve been nice to see them.

mygif

So he removed all the comics with swiped punchlines?

Surely someone must have a copy somewhere. This is the internet!

Yeah, I gotta see this strip now. To make so many people outraged, it must be worse than that Mohammad thing!

Wait. I’m confused. People read User Friendly?

mygif

Your eyes made it from one side of a User Friendly strip to the other, and you have some doubt left about how well it will end?

mygif

I think you mean “can only end well”, at least to the extent that this might finally kill UF.

mygif

I’m amazed that he took the comics down, instead of just going like “Yeah I stole ‘em, choke on it.”

mygif

Near the beginning of that epic pitchforks and torches thread, Iliad (the nom de plume of the UF guy as well as the name of his mefi account) first tried to blame an over-zealous fan, then slowly inched toward an admission of guilt over several comments as people kept on bringing up more evidence, and as someone pointed out that Iliad’s account had favourited one of the comments that he used in a strip.

The rest of the thread is mostly people just flapping their lips in bilious internet outrage.

You’d think a plagiarist would be funnier.

“User Friendly” is one of those comics that amazes me for the simple reason that no matter how often the author draws it, the art never seems to improve.

Then there’s the way it creates a vortex of un-funny, but that’s another issue entirely.

I’m there a lot, & Metafilter’s generally pretty civil. That thread’s on the Metatalk subsite, which is a vicious & tongue-in-cheek place. While this is a serious matter, some of the anger isn’t serious.
