My weekly TV column is up at Torontoist.
There Goes the Neighborhood sounds like one of the worst things ever in the history of worst things ever. Seriously, that sounds like something your three Hollywood executives would have come up with.
“Hey, whatever happened to Helen Hunt anyway?”
This is a very good question. I haven’t heard of her really being in anything after Pay It Forward. Plus, it was amazingly captivating and sexy (I mean really sexy) in As Good As It Gets.
There is one redeeming thing about Crossroads: the Rifftrax. It’s one of the better Traxs, which given that it’s just Mike Nelson is quite a feat. I’m not trying to be disparaging against Mike, but he always works best with someone to play off of. Well worth the 3-4 bucks the Riff costs and however you end up getting the movie.
Do even of those critics use the argument that Tin Man was bad because of how dreadful the acting in it was? I generally like the actors in the major roles in this and they were all just AWFUL this time around…
That’s not really a mystery. It’s common knowledge that Leelee Sobieski ate her soul and threw the dessicated husk into the La Brea tar pits. The real question is whatever happened to Leelee Sobieski?
I was watching the tinman special and I like it. Of course, I have a very a special place in my heart for darker entertainment, but for a TV miniseries? Its good.
I saw the India Reborn documentary when it showed on PBS and found it very interesting. However, the sound editing was bad; whenever the documentarian did a voice-over, his words were muffled by the ambient noise and/or music. Maybe they’ll have cleaned that up for the rebroadcast.
Those critics probably just saw The Movie.
