My weekly TV column is up at Torontoist.
I haven’t seen ‘War and Remembrance’, but I have read half of the book on which it’s based (and ‘The Winds of War’, its prequel). So that makes you sort of not old.
Apparently, fondant used to be an actual edible part of the cake. I have a cook book from the ’40s that has a tasty fondant recipe with several interesting variants. Of course, this book also has a recipe for coffee where you put egg in it for some goddamn reason. It was a weird time, I guess.
Fondant? More like fonDON’T, amirite?!!??! :-p
I had to look up to see who this Stacy and Clinton were, and now I see why I have no idea who they are.
Enjoyed the first part of Hatfields and McCoys…
