Man, a lot of good sci-fi and fantasy TV’s been coming out of the UK lately, hasn’t there? I mean, we’re talking about Primeval, Misfits, Being Human, Merlin, Bedlam, Orphan Black (technically)…. (And that’s not even mentioning the giant blue police box in the room.) Utopia looks interesting, and I’m definitely planning to check it out.

To add to that list, I’ve really been enjoying Black Mirror, a UK sci-fi anthology series that focuses on social media. Season (series) 2 just wrapped up a few months ago.

I haven’t yet seen the original Gone in 60 Seconds. The remake is one of those movies that I don’t count in my top anything. And yet, when it’s on, I generally am quite OK with that and will happily sit back and watch it. It’s the Matt Damon of car chase movies. It’s just kind of there, it made a lot of money, and while it’s generally associated with being entertaining, it’s not amazingly fantastic about it.

Pretend I’m on an all-Netflix diet and rely on you for my vague sense of what’s running these days; what’s Elisha Cuthbert in, and what’s the picture of?

I have trouble thinking of ’90s cars as potential beaters. Or thinking of anyone from Stargate playing Gordie Howe. What’s next, Jason Lee plays Gretzky?

Personally, my favourite Discovery reality shows, at least in the vein of Last Car Standing, are Canada’s Worst Driver/Handyman. Because not only do they help you realize your own bad habits/ignorance/shortcomings, they also remind you how dangerous everyone around you are constantly trying to be.

I constantly mean to watch Happy Endings- I greatly enjoy it and want to see it continue, but it unfortunately falls into the same category as Community two seasons ago, wherein I CONSTANTLY forget that it’s on until twenty minutes after it ended.

Cookie- The oldest of those cars, the ’91 Honda, is a 24 year old car at this point. Even used conservatively, if it still has a floor under the driver, it’s goddamn impressive.

Happy endings actually doesn’t end till next week, as this week’s episodes are the ones that were bumped for Boston bomber coverage.
