Because even spambots know that The Question is hell of awesome and they can’t resist him. It’s like what the internet gets up to in that scifi novel Maelstrom by Peter Watts. Maybe spam will get that movie invented!

I don’t know, but I have a similar issue with one or two old (and crappy) posts. I have to wonder if at some point, some enterprising morons made a list of “here are URLs of all the blog posts on the internet EVAR” to sell to other morons who wanted to be spammers. Since the value of such a list would be very small but not actually zero, one can imagine it continuing to circulate forever.

Do Canadians consider Hollywood movies to be foreign films?

If my experience, with my infinitely less popular website, is any guide, then you probably have 1st position on some Google query somewhere. Spam engines will go after the “most popular” links on any given set of topics, and subsequently hammer the shit out of them with content.

My old Moveable Type installation got so bad with linkspam that it was actually slowing down the shared server I was on, as a result of just a couple of these.

I’m not a WordPress guru, nor even particularly Internet savvy, but I’d wager it’s because that thread in particular has an amount of inordinate links I haven’t really seen in other posts. I’ve read some of your posts with one or two “You should see this video” or “Need this info” sorts of links, but several of those comments have at least one (and some more) external links.

I’d bet spambots troll the Web for instances where there’s a high number of such links. It’s the spam equivalent of camouflage, if you will.

Well. I’d posit, anyway. If I were spam, that’s what I’d do. But I’m not. Spam seems way smarter.

“Do Canadians consider Hollywood movies to be foreign films?”

Aren’t most of them filmed in Vancouver or Canada anyway?

Vancouver, Canada, or Toronto.

Did people ever send in their mock-ups of hypothetical DC films?

I think MightyGodKing got quite a number of slash fanfic mock-ups, so he gave up the movie poster challenge.

Theory: It’s because the words “woman” and “man” and “sucks” and “movie” are fairly close together in the second paragraph.
