This movie was my favorite part of Christmas as a kid. “That’s snow, darling!”
Somewhere in their basement, my parents still have a VHS of this, taped off of ABC or whoever when it first premiered, with original commercials and everything.
This TV special was my childhood. And, really, large parts of my adult life, too.
“Watch out for the icy patch!”
While I generally despise Christmas specials, anything Muppet related is an exception.
PEACE ON EARTH! GIMME PRESENTS!
I was a huge fan of that line.
My absolute favourite thing to watch at Christmas time.
It’s a damn shame that there are no good DVD versions of this, since there are several songs edited out (like the snowman duet) because of some kind of song rights issue.
This is truly, the most epic Christmas special ever.
Can I be six again? That’s all I want for Christmas…
Thanks to you I have a new respect for Muppets. Any recommendations?
I remember seeing a muppet movie as a kid that involved criminals in a swamp that were mistaken for a nuclear family?

How dare you put something this awesome on your sight. Gaah!
You’ve neutralized my contrariness.
I’ll get you next time, MGK! NEXT TIME!
and your little dog, too!
Truly, one of the best Christmas specials EVER!
“Where we come from, this is small talk.” LOVE IT.
My favorite things from the whole special:
“You think YOU’RE disappointed? I JUST TOOK THREE MONTHS OF SURFING LESSONS FOR *ZIP*!”
The Swedish Chef being mad because his kitchen is full of rats and chickens but being perfectly okay with sharing a bedroom with them.
“Boy is this piano outta tune! …I *love* outta tune pianos!”
Who knew it would take a Christmas special seemingly featuring the Muppet Babies to confuse me about the continuity of something? I apparently hold The Muppet Movie more sacred than my beloved comic-books, and I haven’t watched it in years, probably.
Thanks for this, since I don’t remember seeing it before.
