Seriously, watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Fox even picked it up for a full season order which means you don’t even have the “well, I WOULD watch it but I don’t want to deal with the heartbreak of it being cancelled mid-season” excuse.
You know how a lot of shows take a season to really hit their stride and for all the characters to gel? Brooklyn Nine-Nine is like that already.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is fantastic and I am alarmed that it isn’t drawing more viewers. I could watch Andre Braugher deadpan in the face of absurdity all damn day.
I keep DVRing Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl (STFU, it’s good), but I’m falling behind. It’s weird . . . Tuesdays and Wednesdays are jam-packed full of stuff, but the other weeknights? Nothing for me.
And quit hating Arrow. I don’t care that every B-grade and below fighter character is visiting Starling City. It’s a good show even beyond the scenes of shirtless Oliver Queen. And sleeveless John Diggle. And adorable, adorable Felicity.
Of course nothing says “Green Arrow” like Batman Villains. Green Arrow is Batman dressed up like Robin Hood. Who then got turned into a hippie so Denny O’Neil could pick up chicks.
Ollie Queen isn’t really a hippie; he’s far to effectual for that.
Honestly, O’Neill made the right call with that move, even if by accident. Green Arrow being a billionaire industrialist just makes him a more cheerful Batman with an arrow gimmick. Him being a radical offers a useful differentiating from Batman, as while I love Batman, his book has always had troubling reactionary undertones.
Yeah, give me left-wing Ollie with a hat and beard every time. (Never give me Hal Jordan, though, much as “buddy cop story with a fascist and a douchebag” was fun.)
Arrow is so good.
Arrow has the League of Assassins because Warner Brothers is at least sort of aware of cross-promotion. Arkham Origins, the new Batman game, features the league strongly in its plot, and if they can appear in Arrow, then it might drive people from one to the other. Now, they lack the utter ruthlessness of Marvel/Disney at cross promotion, so we have Arrow and a video game, rather than Agent’s of Shield, Thor, the next Captain America movie and Avengers all working together. This is one of the many reasons DC fans can’t have nice things, where nice things is defined as a Justice League movie.
Adding my support for Brooklyn 9-9!!
I saw it got given the “coveted post-Super Bowl spot”, so presumably that’s a show of support from the network?
I don’t care much for Andy Samberg, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine is pretty good.
I have to admit, I don’t watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine live (’cause I still haven’t given up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), but I’ve been watching it online, and it’s probably my favourite new comedy this season. (Which is weird, ’cause I really found Andy Sanberg annoying as hell towards the end of his SNL run. It totally works when he’s playing off of Andre Braugher, though.)
Yeah, I’m in the “Would totally watch Brooklyn 9-9 and love it if it weren’t on opposite Joss Whedon’s A Bunch Of Guys Totally Unrelated To Marvel Occasionally Dropping Broad Hints That Marvel Characters Exist” camp.
I’ll take Arrow and a video game over the bland Marvel content any day
