Methinks it’s time for Green Arrow to take a road trip.
At first I was like, “This is odd…” But then I thought, “Well, shit, why not? You a need cheap way to kill a man, might as well fall back on what you’re ancestors were doing.”
From what I can gather from the accompanying forum posts, the violence started up so fast nobody had time to locate their local CIA representative pedaling unaccounted soviet stock.
…and that title is because gunpowder is so very hard to make, and guns hard to find?
Gunpowder is hard to make – at least, the sort of smokeless powders that modern bullets use, which if you don’t know what you’re doing results in an explosion during the manufacturing process. If you want to make black powder, great – I hope you like muskets.
Hey, it was good enough for Ash in Army of Darkness. 😉
I like muskets just fine when my tribe is gonna use ’em on your puny bow and arrow wielding bunch.
What I find weird is that there doesn’t seem to be any melee weapons among them. Yeah, arrows are great for long-range, but they’re not going to work at anything near the range of a gun. It seems like a couple of brave motherfuckers with hatchets and some good sprinting legs could make their way into chopping range if they were so inclined. I’d think SOMEONE would have a machete or something on them, just in case.
Whoops, sorry. Don’t know how I missed this guy.

I think this might be the biggest badass I’ve ever seen, by the way.
If renaissance faires went down like this, I wuoldn’t think the participants were such pussies.
Also, Karellan, that man is terrifying. It’s like he *knows* we’re a bunch of soft-ass motherfuckers sitting fatly in front of our computers and he’s not afraid to do something about it. Something real stabby.
Something you might want to consider between now and the fateful day when your tribe clashes with MGK’s, CapnAndy, is this: how long does it take to reload a musket vs. a bow and arrow?
Besides, gunpowder is just a pain in the ass to make. I don’t wanna go chasing no seagulls around for potassium nitrate. (Everything important I know, I learned from the original Transformers animated series.)
Not to mention, a bow and arrow is a largely silent weapon, and with proper accessories is even quieter.
You go hunting with a musket in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic society, and see how fast you have two-legged scavengers on your kill.
Although I have to say, when the day comes, I’m SO getting a decent compound bow….
Man, I love these “so real it looks fake” kind of things.
Pretty interesting, though I doubt too many “civilized” people really know how to make either bows and arrows OR gunpowder. I would imagine a lot of this kind of fighting would be done with improvised weapons or whatever one could find (clubs, rocks, so on).
