Also remarkably welcome: No mid-leg bunching points! In fact, with the first flight running out of seats (and how often does that happen to racers while they’re in the First World) and the 8:00, 8:30, and then 9:30 ferries, they’re showing a real willingness to actually make the slower teams pay that I can only hope is the start of a trend.

Oh, and Donkey Karma knocking out the most annoying team in the race and putting the second most annoying in second-to-last. All legs should have a donkey.

I hate to say this, but TAR hasn’t been that good in a long time. Don’t get me wrong…I consider the worst of this show to be better than the best of a lot of other reality shows. But after suffering from the likes of the Weavers, BJ & Tyler, Eric & Jeremy, Eric & Danielle, Charla & Mirna…along with poor leg design, too many Travelocity commericals in the game itself, and too many needles-in-haystacks challenges (great if it eliminates Rob & Amber, not so much when it catapults Eric & Danielle to an undeserved million bucks)…can you truly say it’s the best reality show around?

I know…I’m cynical about the show, even though I recommend it to friends whenever I can. It’s just that it could be better. And apprently, donkeys are not fans of Aaron & Arianne from the third season; why else would one of them stall on dopplegangers Ari & Staella? Seriously…good start for the new season. First time I can remember a potential headache team got the boot first.

As for siblings…aside from the family edition, no blood related team has ever won the Race. The highest they’ve gone is third: brother/sister combo Blake & Paige in TAR2, and Ken & Gerard in TAR3.

I was happy that Team Annoying was ousted in the first episode. I only with the bimbos with their “we’ll use our bodies to get ahead” attitude hadn’t made it so far ahead.

At least there wasn’t anyone with the moniker “dating models” this time.

All in all, a good start to the show.

Top reason to watch this show, which I have never before watched but now I have to: Robbie Fulks’ family is in it. Go Nick & Don!

Cookie…I’ll bite. Who’s Robbie Fulks? Also, one of the “L.A. Blondes” used to go out with Ryan Seacrest. Hey, it could be worse…Dick & Daniele Donato originally applied for the show before they were cast as an “estranged” father/daughter act on Big Brother 8.

Christopher…how long have you watched the show? Any favorite teams? Least favorite?

I’m not Chris, but I’ve seen all seasons but 2-4, and my all-time favorite team is Dustin and Kandice (the Beauty Queens) from season 10 and All-Stars. (Or, “All”-“Stars.”) Driven competitors, but friendly, caring, sweet, funny, and very appreciative of the entire experience. And, yes, hot. But, honestly, I can’t stand most of the model types this show casts, so I’m not just going by their looks. But they are hot.

A close second for favorite was Kevin and Drew, the Frats from Season 1 and All Stars. I’d love them more, but they had an ugly flameout in All Stars that made them taste a bit sour.

My commentary on the first ep.

I don’t know if I could ever rank my favorite teams, but I think John Vito & Jill would be at the very top.
