Can’t speak for anyone else, but I don’t watch “Raising Hope” because my mother was diagnosed with dementia not long before the show premiered, and I couldn’t bear to watch a show that draws a fair but of its humour from someone in that situation. A shame, too, ’cause I was a big fan of “My Name Is Earl”.
“J.J. Abrams’ new series about a cop who has to pair up with a robot cop in the future,” does not seem like a “glib” description, but exactly what they’ve been advertising. And I would argue that J.J. Abrams does not do “serious shows.”
