Call me snobbish, but the fact that someone named their children Jet, Cord, and Vyxsin hurts me.

Jet and Cord perhaps, but Vyxsin (and Kynt, for that matter) are just spelling “Vixen” and “Kent” in a fancy Gothy way.

As for Ron and Christina – Ron was a human cancer for most of his race, on top of which Christina did most of the work in getting them to the finals, at which point Ron congratulated himself profusely for not being a total asshole the entire time. She is awesome; he is a blight and a bad racer, and seeing TK and Rachel – one of the most deserving winning teams ever – beat them was thoroughly satisfying.

I love Mallory but that is because I only have to watch her once a week. She is a cute little pixie of a sprite. I can work with that kind of enthusiasm.

Now I HATE that punk kid Luke. He is a dick and uses his disability to excuse his actions. He was a horrible human being last time and I have no illusions that he won’t be one this time.

I am rooting for Hang Time and Big Easy. If they don’t fall apart at some mental challenge they will go all the way. Fast and strong is so underatted as is charm.

My takes:

Gary & Mallory . . . a bit extraneous, given the two other parent/child teams. I think they were slipped in after Claire (the one that got a watermelon smashed in her face last season) found out she was pregnant.

Amanda & Kris . . . looking back at my posts on the Television Without Pity forums, I mentioned them one in the four episodes they were on. Apparently, I thought they could’ve been another version of Kris & Jon from TAR6, which is a huge compliment. Might be here because Margie & Luke “screwed” them over (which is a “Hate the game, not the players” thing for me). Might be here to justify Zev & Justin being in the game, with only four legs run per team.

Kisha & Jen . . . are here because Margie & Luke are here, and the producers — who have been slow to notice the slide to the dark side all reality honchos go through — want some action. Have to remember that Jen has the short hair. Or is it Kisha? Damn.

Zev & Justin . . .Zev has Asperger’s Syndrome, not autism. They did screw themselves, but since Justin looked like a dick in preview clips, seeing them both be funny was a surprise. I’ll be rooting for them.

Flight Time & Big Easy . . . I think more people think they (or just Easy) was dumb because he gave up on the Kafka Roadblock, a task that was a total nightmare. I’m guessing that the “dirty pool” was them putting the screws on Mika, when in fact she probably wasn’t going to go on the damn water slide anyway, and her partner Canaan wasn’t going to help anyway.

Jaime & Cara . . . do not belong here. They were bad racers, and they only got second place in TAR14 because they helped Luke after he self-destructed on the final Roadblock, giving Tammy & Victor the win. Can’t remember which one was the bitch, since they look alike to me.

Margie & Luke . . . she’s a bit overprotective, he can be a little bitchy at times . . . and that’s the extent of their “evil.” One writer at TWoP has it in for ’em bad, and while I don’t give free passes for handicaps, I didn’t see them as the bad guys versus Kisha & Jen. Also, I have this weird fantasy where they finish in the top three and do commentary, where you can hear Luke’s hands flapping over a live mic, followed by an interpreter telling us what he’s saying.

Ron & Christina . . . I saw him as pushy, but I figured he wasn’t so bad. I think the next episode might prove me wrong.

Mel & Mike . . . I’m hoping they go far, but Mel might be a little brittle. They should’ve brought back Donald from TAR12, who finished third with his grandson Nicolas.

Kent & Vyxsin . . . met them at TARCon (a finale pary for fans of the show), for dim sum (where Vyxsin was wearing a t-shirt with Jigglypuff on it), and at CCI in ’09 (where I got my picture taken with them in my article on the trip). They can be annoying with the goth thing, but I think they’re nice. Didn’t notice Kent changed his name from “Kynt” after his father died until I read it on the forums. Also, Vyxsin is actually a Jennifer.

Jet & Cord . . . hearing about how disparaging they were about gays further ruined TAR16 for me (along with Caite’s casting and Dan & Jordan’s fluke win). They are fun to watch, though. I am bitter that they will get a pass from getting eliminated (as Cord messes up his Roadblock), while John Vito & Jill (one of my fave all-time teams) weren’t as fortunate in TAR11. I wanted somebody from my home borough of Staten Island to win a reality show, and it turned out to be the horribly miscast Danielle, along with her closeted “boyfriend” Eric.

My take on the Kafka roadblock, BTW, is that Dan’s double-cross threw Big Easy off his game. It rattled him to the point where he wasn’t able to concentrate properly on the task, and instead of getting it together and focusing on the very real clue Dan did give him (if it starts with an “F”, then the only logical letter that can follow is the “A” or the “R”, and it’s pretty easy to figure out from there) he lost it and decided to take the penalty.

Which doesn’t excuse Big Easy; as I say, if he’d calmed down and thought, he could have worked it out. But Dan really did kind of shaft him, there. (Not blaming him…it’s a game, and the best time to shaft someone in a game is when it knocks them out of the game. 🙂 )

Asperger’s Syndrome is in the autism spectrum, Jason; in fact, it’s sometimes a flip of the coin as to whether a child gets diagnosed with Asperger’s or high functioning autism. You know, as long as we’re being pendantic. 😛

Aaaaaaaaaand Amanda & Kris got eliminated. They really didn’t belong they ; like I said before, I think they were brought in to justify Zev & Justin. Don’t be survived if TAR20 has Mark & Dave (the geeks that lasted three episodes) are called in to accompany the tragic pair of Lena & Kristie from TAR6 (aka the worst season that didn’t involve families or “all stars.”) On the bright side, Zev & Justin got the win AND managed to hold onto their passports. I’m proud of Zev, and I’m happy that Justin is his good buddy.

Thanks for the correction, Candlejack. I thought those two terms were separate. Shows what I know.
