Wait, people are hating on the last eps of Doctor Who because they don’t like Clara?
Other than all the people that want Amy or Rose back (who should really know how the show works by now) I haven’t seen anyone hating on Clara. Most comments I’ve read range from “she’s ok” to “she’s fine”
I’m sorry, but Jeremy Irons was in Eragon. This destroyed all my faith in his ability to pick good scripts. Somehow, this does not diminish his personal awesome as an actor, but I don’t ever see myself watching something because it has Jeremy Irons in it.
I like Clara. I’m just annoyed at the idea that there’s this great mystery about her existing in the first place.
Survivor still sucks donkey dong. A sane cast would’ve booted Phillip straightaway. Yes, he can be ridden to Day 39, but there’s the whole “LIVING WITH HIM FOR SEVERAL WEEKS” thing that I can’t wrap my mind around. He’s an asshole, a bully, insane, or some mix of all three. And if he wasn’t cast, maybe Brandon would’ve have crashed so hard.
I still remember the episode of Thrill of a Lifetime where the guy’s dream was to rap with the Fat Boys. I think they even provided viewers with an explanation of what “rap music” was. I miss my youth—those innocent days before “Disorderlies” made the Fat Boys a household name.
@Mark Temporis – I’ve never seen D&D, so I can’t compare. But if I hadn’t seen the Star Wars Holiday Special, I’d swear there could be nothing worse than Eragon.
The question of Jeremy Irons being right in the head aside — sometimes actors need paychecks, and their choosing a project has little to do with their actually trying to pick a quality script. I can’t hold either Eragon or D&D against him. The people making those movies clearly wanted “somebody like Jeremy Irons”, and they waved money at him until they got him.
The thing about D&D is that it is a bad movie but he’s easily one of the best parts of it for how much scenery he chews. I say “one of” because it also has Richard O’ Brien and Tom Baker, but he does get more screen time. His facial expressions alone are wonderful.
What’s happening with Who is the same thing that happened when RTD had been in charge this long- the superfans know and anticipate the showrunner’s quirks and so we get tired of them. But so far I’m enjoying it and not seeing anything super magic pixie about the companion.
My complaints about Dr Who aren’t so much that it isn’t like how it was when I was a kid (I grew up in the 90’s and watched Who on UKgold), it that its full of bad plotting and characterization and sexism. 3 episodes in and each one has been boring.

And he said that there is a sexual element to Parental love, and I quote “It is very difficult because children under 16 are immensely attractive,”
So……yeah….there’s also that.

Not that that will stop me from sharing Randall Munroe’s goal…

Kirala: Eragon was worse than Dungeons and Dragons?

Irons seems just a little bit… touched.

You know, not for nothing, but I was disliking the current season of Who before the new companion. You know, when it was still cool.
…wait, what?
Personally, I thought the high point of D&D was blue lipstick dude screaming “GIVE ME THE ROD!” Or maybe Marlon Wayans covered in oatmeal.
Hmm…against gay marriage, says nice things about incest…maybe he’s still in character from The Borgias?
Okay, I have to know: at any point in The Borgias does someone coldly intone “The Renaissance – Is – Futile”? 🙂
