Does anybody have a good site for information about potential oceanic methane sequestration technologies? Google-fu is failing me, and I’m looking at it as a potential topic for a law school research paper (specifically implementation of same on a global level and interactions with the law-of-the-sea treaties).

My weekly TV column is up at Torontoist.
Now I have to decide whether I will be liveblogging the Canadian federal election debate or the US vice-presidential debate, as they are on at the same time. Decisions, decisions!

8:39: I really shouldn’t be watching this on CNN, but they have so many gadgets. A countdown clock! A group of undecided voters! (Who, interestingly, think Obama will win the debate 70-30 before it even starts, thus rendering “undecided voter” even closer than ever to “dumbass.”) A group of “analysts” who will score McCain and [...]

Sometimes you don’t hit that sweet spot right off the bat. Such is the case here with the Untouchables, who were originally known as the “Intangibles,” and who wore super-spacey-futurey outfits. This made them generic and boring, which is not where you want to go with a supervillainous team of Kitty Pryde wannabes.
And so the [...]

John McCain wants to postpone this Friday’s debate on foreign policy, supposedly because he wants to concentrate on the economy. (What McCain would actually do is really kind of hard to say, but hey, that’s his excuse.)
Five ways the Obama campaign can respond without appearing ungentlemanly in a “McCain wants to work to solve the [...]

I was recently looking through scans_daily, and came across this post, wherein various posters debated the merits of Peanuts. One noteworthy poster claimed it was nowhere near as good as either Calvin and Hobbes or Dilbert. (Frigging Dilbert!)
People. Listen. This is not something I generally say, because I recognize there are many artistic works that [...]

Never try to start reading a Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis comic halfway through. It will only lead to sorrow.

SCENE: A STUDIO BIGWIG and his three JUNIOR EXECUTIVES sit at a table.
BIGWIG: We have had a very good run of late, haven’t we? I was amazed, One, that you managed to pull back the entire cast of the original The Fast and the Furious to make a sequel to The Fast And The Furious [...]

Will, in the Diablo Cody debate from Friday, says:
Also, I’d call her “In summation: you try it,” condescending at best and ignorant at worst; I’d wager that a large portion of the people criticizing her work and method in the first place have, in fact, tried it, but unfortunately were never able to take up [...]

From comments:
Myspace filtered this site (more specifically a direct link to the original magic cards post) as a virus source. would not let a friend post this in their bulletins.
Anybody know anything more about this? I try to be extremely vigilant to keep spam commenting off site (I run two spam comment blockers, which is [...]

Ever since the current government made their staggering cuts to arts funding, Stephen Harper has claimed that the Conservatives spend more on the arts than the Liberals did. “Really?,” everyone asked. “Sure,” said Harper, “I even have my grade 9 in piano!”
The problem with making those kind of claims is that it’s really hard to [...]

For those who missed my most recent appearance on the CBC and want to hear it, you can download the podcast mp3 here.
EDIT: I note that they edited out “the lightning round” from the podcast, wherein I got to rag on Jerry O’Connell in Do Not Disturb, one of the most wretched shows I have [...]

(this post by non-MGK author Dan Solomon)
Yesterday in Seattle, a man drove his pickup truck onto his friend’s roof because "he got a wild hair".
I know some of y’all might be quick to judge the man in question because, okay, that’s really stupid, but I want to hang out with him, like, twice a month. [...]
