Thanks to being a member of the Internet Media Conspiracy, I was invited to attend this week’s tapings of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, and I wrote an article about it, with which I am quite happy and which requires little to no interest in the show to read and enjoy, so go do that.
Not included in article: the bit where I nearly trampled Benji Schwimmer by accident. (It wasn’t my fault, because I’m taller and heavier than he is and physics more or less demands that I trample him should I get the opportunity.)

“Trend predictor” who predicted the 1987 stock market crash, the Asian currency crisis and the subprime mortgage crisis predicts “food riots and tax revolts” by 2012.
(Of course, it is also worth pointing out that lots of other people predicted these things too. And for someone so notoriously good at predicting trends, why doesn’t he have at least a Wikipedia entry…?)

If you live in Canada and have ever linked to anything in your life ever, then you probably want to go read my article at TheCourt.ca about the decision on Crookes v. Wikimedia, AKA “the linking case.”
Heck, if you live in a common-law country you probably want to read it too, because it won’t be binding precedent in your country but it’ll be persuasive.

No, seriously, the designers of this game expect you to be able to “run” one hundred metres.
FUN FACT: If you somehow make it to 50 metres, there are hurdles.

…I was still writing elsewhere. So here is my weekly TV column (although it is mostly obsolete at this point), as well as my article about the World Rock Paper Scissors Championships.
(An aside: I did not mention it in the article because I did not want to be a concern troll, but seriously: calling it the WORLD Rock Paper Scissor Championships when the only foreigners attending are from rich countries still kind of smacks of privilege in a way, doesn’t it? After all, in most of the world when they play rock-paper-scissors, it is A trying to beat in B’s head with a Rock while B attempts to stab A with Scissors, and the winner gets a wad of small green Papers.)
